Appling County High School in Baxley, Georgia has shown an increased rate of students passing different subtests of the High School Graduation test. They have had a school wide campaign and engagement contest regarding the content of the test. An initiative of the state’s GRADUATE FIRST Program, the team sponsored a contest among the subject halls for best decorating of their classroom doors and halls with the content of the test for students to review as they pass by for a month prior to the test administration.
Teachers and students worked together to present some interesting and creative displays. You would see an outline of the human body, timeline of history events, chemistry formulas, math problems and formulas, even poetry examples.
The prize for all their hard work? Faculty in the winning hall earned dress-down days! Students showed an increase in passing different subtests, and decrease in course failures!! Go Pirates!!
