On November 7th and 8th participants from both Southeast GLRS and Coastal GLRS attended a two day workshop that focused on strategies for establishing successful mentor/mentee relationships using the Check & Connect Model.  The presenter, Joseph Angaran who is a national trainer for Check & Connect, engaged the participants in discussions and activities that revolved around establishing relationships and working with families.  Check & Connect is a structured mentoring intervention to promote student success and engagement at school and with learning through relationship building and systematic use of data.  The University of Minnesota’s Institute on Community Integration collaborated with professionals in Minneapolis Public Schools to develop the model.
